Freedom and Peace

NLP Therapy's key features (differences to coaching)

Directive and leading

Problem focused.

Working with pain or wounds.

Remedial: fixing what isn't working.

Run NLP patterns on client.

I would suggest NLP Therapy for two main reasons; i) to create a new positive resource or ii) to neutralise a negative state or pattern that is getting in the way of moving forwards. Below are the key areas that NLP uses to “change your mind” and shift negative patterns and create new positive resources.

  1. Parts – when two or more “integral parts” are in conflict (e.g. I want to be free but I also want to be safe).

  2. Identity – when a self concept is ill-formed, creating stress or limitations (e.g. I don't see my successes, I only see my failures). Positively shifting self image.

  3. States – experiencing problematic, unresourceful and/or emotional states (e.g. I know I can do the job but I fall to pieces at the interview stage). Phobias.

  4. Language - destructive self talk and using language in negative or distressful ways (e.g. “I hate my job and everyone thinks I'm useless and they're right”.)

  5. Thinking styles – habitual learned ways of processing information that generates fear, anxiety, panic and unresourceful behaviour (e.g. getting bogged down in details and failing to see the bigger picture).

  6. Meanings – limiting beliefs or impoverished meanings (e.g. people like me just keep getting it wrong and there's nothing I can do about it).

  7. Strategies – not knowing how to initiate a desired behaviour (e.g. I want to be more relaxed with people but I don't know how).

Present state

Description: specifically what makes it a problem for you?

Desired solution state

Specific description of solution state. What would let you know that the problem has gone?

We start with a present state (PS) and we establish what the desired state (DS) will look, sound and feel like then we work out what resources are needed to get there. NLP works like turning a dial on yourself that tunes into your inner clarity, which is always there.

NLP presupposition*: "we have all the resources we need or we can create them."

*Presupposition; a belief we choose because it makes life work better for us - think about what believing the opposite to the above might do to motivation and peace of mind ...?
